Default First Bike - '02 250R - 8/10/07

Wow, joining another forum! (Got like 20 emails from forums on my birthday this past Monday.)

Getting my new bike in a week. Just waiting on my paycheck. I've already made a $400 downpayment to the owner, still owe $1300. Bought a tank pad and an AFX FX-10 helmet, and waiting to buy some parts when I get the bike.

Wanting to do the rear fender delete, but I recently can't find them on eBay anymore. (Not like it's hard to redneck-rig one, since it's just a piece of metal.) Wanting to do grips, pegs, and taillights too.

I'm used to car audio and electronics, so I'm wanting to do some work with that. I also found a neat "how-to" for making a heated jacket a while back and would like to do that.

I want to find something to upgrade the headlight, like a clear-lens light would be awesome, or some sort of retrofit light.

Thanks for the site!

welcome

i recently got an AFX fx-35 -- its nice - the fx-10 is similar just less vents.

there are companies that make heated jackets and vests. where is this how-to to make your own? if you make one be sure to write it up in the DIY section.

Make your own heated jacket???!!!! sign me up!

I originally constructed my own metal bracket when I did the fender eliminator, but just last Sunday I hacked up the factory fender and thought it came out pretty good. The plus side to "modifying" the original fender is that you'll keep the inner fender plastic which protects the tail light wiring and keeps out road gunk & rain water. I still have plenty more to do. But all in good time.[8D]

Just about everything I've done to my 250R can be read on this post: My '06 250R Is Getting A Makeover!

Welcome to the forums, and enjoy the new bike![sm=smiley20.gif]

I think this is it, or at least it looks familiar.
http://www.shadowriders.org/faq/electricvests.html

You could do heated jacket, seat, car seat, probably even run them to your gloves, just use a plug on the end of your sleeve, and some wire that coils up off of your gloves.

I do a lot of car stereo work, but I'm gonna have to figure something different out for this.

And a video of the 10" Kicker L7 that was in my Bronco until it sold, and is now in my Astro.
Video of L7 in Astro, I was using a plastic bag to show how much air it was moving in this one, which was almost ripped out of my hands.

that artical brings up a good point about the load your bike is capable of handling without draining your battery while you ride.
have to do some tests to find out how much juice the alternator puts out. i think it would be really easy to make a heated fleece vest to wear under the leathers in the winter.

Worried about current draw? I guess there's not gonna be an L7 on the bike then... Maybe the XBox will still work...

And Mark, that's close to the color I want to paint my bike down the road, to match my helmet:
