Hello, I just bought a 1991 zx600r and it needs some work, but I got a deal on it, so its all good. I got it for $1100 bucks, it needs carb work and new tires to get it on the road, but in Minnesota, riding season is kind of closing so it's my winter project. I used to have a 1994 CBR 600F2, so I am not new to the riding scene, but it has been a long time since I have done any work on anything besides my crappy car. I am from Mankato, MN...I go to college here, that's my story. Any suggestions on things I can do for decent quick DIY mods would be much appreciated. Thanks now - Matt-

 

welcome to KF. i had a 91 600r before i got my present bike. a stage three jet kit and a vance n hines four into one system is what i had on mine. it was a good bike. post some pics and enjoy ur stay here.

 

I have been looking at jet kits and the V&H full system. Which jet kit would you reccommend? I am planning on doing the exhaust this winter, along with a jet kit and a new filter, but I don't know which one I want, anyone who can post pros vs. cons on these kits would be helpful. Thanks -Matt-

 

i don't know what kind of jet kit was in it. those mods were already done when i got it. but when you take out the stock air box it leaves plenty of room for K&N air cleaners. one little K&N on each carb looks nice.

Do the pipe before the jet kit. I was able to shim the needles on my 90 zx7 with good results.

Well in just looking around the forums I confirmed my thought that I have a 'c' model because of the breakdown of my VIN...I have been looking on ebay for parts...I got the bike for $800 less than the asking price because it needs about $550 in carb parts and labor according to the shop, but I told them they can eat it and I will take my chances somewhere else. Moral of the story...now it's a lot easier to find parts for it, especially on ebay...anyways, any suggestions for me to get started would be much appreciated, I am taking the carb off tomorrow to start working on it.
