Can i get a bike for about $1,000-2,000 and wat kind of bike and year

Sure!! it may be only a 250cc though maybe a little bit bigger if your lucky, but its possible. I would say you could find a 2000 too if you look around enough.

i got my old 86 1000R for 2K about ten years ago, but I think i got a really good deal. bought if from an old guy who was pretty scared of it. he actually wanted 2,500 but i showed him cash and away i drove.

I don't know what you are looking for, but I don't think you will find anything in the 600-1000cc range for 2k that is in good condition. You can get a good mid to late 90's EX500 or GS500 Suzuki.
