Default 2006 klx 250 carb

hey guys I'm new to the site. I have a 2006 klx 250 I've had it since it was new. its been sitting for about 10 years and the carb is junk. I've tried to clean and re jet it several times over the years with no luck. its still a completely stock bike and was wondering what kind of carb I should replace it with as the stock one is around $400 new. I will be riding any where from sea level to around 1000 ft. what should I put in for jets to start and would I need a new throttle cable or would the stock one work. any help would be awesome. thanks

There's a good chance you can pick up a pre-jetted stock carb here for a more than fair price. Probably less than 1/4 the price of a new one.

I would recommend taking the carb to a bike or car shop that has an ultrasonic cleaner or a carb washer to get it cleaned. Then look at the jetting you have versus the information I have in the KLX250S cheap mods link in my signature if it is Mikuni parts or get with KLXter if you have Dyno Jet brass in it. Carbs seldom just turn to junk. They get crud in the small passages that can be a pain to get cleaned out if done at home.

If you want the hot ticket for the bike either a Bill Blue modified 34mm flat slide Mikuni, or a TM36-68 flat slide Mikuni with some jets if needed are the top of the heap for throttle response. I have one I need to install... waiting for spring and space to work on the bike.

thanks the vacuum slide is also torn on the rubber and that's over $100 so I figured that if I'm going to be spending that much there are carbs out there that are brand new that wouldn't be much more and would be better than stock
