**Help**In Need Of Advice
Hi to everyone my name is gabriel and I recently traded my car,'97 honda del sol for a '04 kawi 636..I saw the bike on another forum I belong to and from the pics and description it honestly looked like a sweet deal so I went ahead and contacted the owner of the bike. Days pass and than comes the day of the actual trade of both vehicles we both meet up and test drive/ride each others vehicles everything goes smooth.we looked at each others titles and this is where I really screwed up because I just skimmed right through it only thing I checked for was the vin# matching the frame and owners address and name but wat I didn't check was how the title had 1 recorded lien on it..I contacted the owner of the bike and he said he paid off the bike. The owner also gave me a bill of sale from the bank saying the account is closed and being reported as such to all three(3) major credit bureaus. The funny thing is the bill of sale he gave me is addressed to another name meaning that there was a co-signer so when I went to dmv yesterday they didn't want to accept the title of the bike because of the bill of sale not matching names with each other...now my question is what should I do, I know it was a really careless mistake on my part but no one likes to get jipped on a deal.at the end of the day he ends up with a clean and clear title car which he is probably driving as I type this story to u all and im crotchrocket less...and also to add to this story I contacted the bank and they had me fax them the title and the notification they sent the co-signer showing proof the bike was payed off

Welcome to K.F.
Sorry to here about the trouble your having. Good trade tho.
you can take it you to your Local CHP or DPS station. tell them what you've told us, show the proof. most likely they will keep the bike for a week and check all the facts to the title. then they will write a letter for you to take to the DMV.
