How does one tell what the Year & Month of manufacture is when both numbers are "below" 12?

For example if the date stamp on the frame near the serial number says "07/06" does that mean July 2006, or June 2007?

My bike is a 2007 and I was really wondering if it was built in July 2006, or June 2007? (I would think that by June '07 they would have been building the '08's, but it could be a late production too?)

Anyone knowledgeable on this subject?

 

The best way to check this is, take off the right side number plate (which covers the exhaust) and you will see alot of small boxes.. Its actually a reference chart, just look at where the dots have stopped and look what month and year it is at and that would be the true time of manufacture..

 

Month/Year. So your bike was built in July 2006. My 06' was built on 12/05 (Decemeber 2005).

 

Wow! I bought it in May 2008, brand new, right out of the crate! (Hope I don't have any problems with it ........ none so far, other than leaking fork seals at about 250 kms.) Bike has 2500 kms on it now ......... still 100% stock
