Default What's it worth?

This is NOT a for sale post; rather, I'm curious as to what it might be worth. I'm thinking about selling it.

In an effort to downsize, and the fact that I just don't ride it enough. I did the 351 kit over a year ago and the bike has only had 500 miles on it since then. I've been riding my DR650 100x more.

Here's the scoop:

2010 KLX250S, green
5000 miles
BB 351 kit
BB TM34 pumper carb
KLX300 exhaust and head pipe
ProTaper Contour SE bars w/4" of rise (extended cables and front brake line)
SW Motech skidplate
Cycleracks Rack
Handwarmers
Acerbis 3.7 gal gas tank
Barkbusters Handguards
Front tire is a Kenda Trackmaster II
Rear tire is a Pirelli MT43 trials tire (both are in good shape)

There's only one KLX for sale locally, a 2009, same miles, but stock with an asking price of $2900. Book value is about that (average value) with high value of $3800.

I owe about $2500 on it, but I'm not about to sell it that cheap. I don't have to sell it; just thinking about it.

Thoughts?

Extras generally count for nothing in resale.

"Only" bonus is that you're selling a newish 350cc dual sport which are sort of rare (when did the DR350 fade?).

Start high, you can always drop the price; 3500?

Yeah I know the add-ons generally aren't worth much; however that doesn't mean there isn't a buyer who'd pay for 'em. I did okay when I sold my '98 Z28 with full suspension and Vortech supercharger (I got $4k over book for it). 'Course that was in 2003.

I'd likely let it go for $3500, but for less than that, it's worth more to keep. I still have all the original parts; I could demod if I wanted, but I don't.

If you still have the stock gas tank and other stock parts sitting around your house and you are thinking of selling the bike then install the stock gas tank and install the stock carb with the proper jetting and remove any part that you have installed such as the skid plate, bark busters, hand warmers and rack and sell these items on ebay or to members on this site.

Also how did you get a Acerbis 3.7 tank on a 2010 bike?? They do not list one for that model year and IMS and Clark list differnt part numbers for 2007 and before bike than 2009 and later so that makes me thing that you can not put a pre 2007 tank on a post 2008 bike. Do you know of a majic trick????

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that you can fit the Acerbis tank on the 2009+ bikes. It fits fine. All you do is remove one electrical connector that's attached to the frame under the tank and let it hang freely. You do have you trip the side panels slightly for an exact fit but that's not a big deal either. I had mine on in about a half hour when I got it a couple years ago.

Ya know what else I forgot to list in my mods? Suspension. The forks have gold valves and upgraded springs and the rear is a Moto Pro shock with an upgraded spring. Yeah there's no way I can sell this thing for anywhere near what I have in it. Nevermind, I'll keep it.

Yeah, sounds like you are better off keeping it since you most likely will not get anything even close to what you have in it without taking half the bike apart and selling everything piecemeal.

Sold my 2009 2 weeks ago for $3,500 with half the mods you have. It is all about location. Mine was the only KLX for sale in my area.

There is a bone stock klx250sf with 18k miles on CL going for 3900! Jeezus, I should be able to get 5000 for mine right? I wish..

Put it up for $3700 and say you are flexible, someone will say 3, you say 36, they say 32, you say 35 takes it, and don't settle for less.

This is AFTER you pull all the after market stuff off...sell that separately...

You put 50,000 miles on the DR?

Put it up a with with all the mods. There just may be someone out there looking for just that. Then start pulling parts and reducing the price.
