The "Travel Light, Travel Far" KLX

Also put a bit of work into the front fairing. Took off the headlight bracket, I was hoping to be able to use it to work off of for a mount for the fairing, but it is just going to be in the way too much. All that is left is the wiring. Also bolted up a new fender. It's of the 03-08ish KX flavor.
Found two pieces of angle and got them measured out and lined up to use the bottom and top bolt holes that were used for the headlight bracket. Here is a photo of preliminary mock up, looks like it is going to work out:
Looking down on the inside of the fairing. Brackets line up nicely, maintaining vertical adjustability of the fairing:
And a bad photo with the fairing set up there

Been awhile since I have posted, since I haven't been able to work on the bike much. However, I have been able to work on it bit by bit.
After setting the motor in the bike, I started hooking everything back up again with the intention of seeing if it would start before going any further. Fitting up the TM 33/34 is a pretty tight fit, but it went on fine. I decided to add some rubber spacers in certain areas to provide some support and isolation from areas close to the frame.
Bolted up the new exhaust and threw the stock tank back on it real quick. And it cranked right up after I remembered to set the choke! Seemed to be running pretty well. Idled nicely at about 1300 RPM. Motivating to hear it run again.

Did a few more things on the bike. Getting closer, but the bike is going to have to wait until I get back from a work trip in two weeks.
Mounted some Shinko 244's up on the wheels, always love fresh tires:
Ordered a Thermobob 2 and swapped that out. Looking forward to seeing how this new thermostat/coolant routing will do. After reading how basic the stock cooling system manages, I do think that this will have a real impact on realiability:
Excited about having a protected spot to run the trail tech coolant sensor that will pull accurate temps. As someone who likes to watch their gauges closely, that makes me happy!
Photo of the new coolant hose routing:
After finishing that up and putting the wheels back on, I moved to some wiring. Finished up the trail tech sensors, including the new speedo cable. I'll be sure to grab some photos of my set up on the wheel when I finalize it. Routed the speedo cable with the new SS brake line I got from Bill. With that done, I routed the trail tech power, power outlet, and heated grips power back to the battery. I ran it through some wire loom to protect it, and followed the wiring harness back:
With the only wiring left to do in front of the forks, that left me open to put the Acerbis tank on. For reference, I did have to do some clearancing to get the tank to line up with the right side mounting bolt. I took off the rubber pad on the frame on the right side, and that gave me just enough to be able to work the bolt in. If anyone has slight fitting issues with their tank, that's what worked for me. I popped the seat on and sat it on it's wheels to check out how it felt. Think I am going to roll the handlebars forward a bit. Good to sit on it again.
There she will sit until I get back.
