Tools
I won't repeat all that's been listed but no one has mentioned Tommy Tape. If you have never heard of it then check it out at :
Tommy Tape Self Fusing Silicone Tape
This stuff is not a joke or scam. It has GREAT temp capabilities (>500 deg F), Great electrical insulation properties, not bothered by liquid or oil. Great for liquid hose leaks. Check out its properties at its web site. I have carried this in all vehicles I drive for the past 10 yrs and have replaced so many items in my tool kits with this tape and have repaired things you wouldn't believe. It fuses to itself so it doesn't care what surface it's applied to. Just stretch it as you apply it and rub the raw end into the wrap when finished. Wrap a couple of turns around your finger and rub the raw end into the wrap. It fuses with itself and WILL NOT COME LOOSE till you cut it off leaving NO RESIDUE.
I have no interest or ties to this product. Truly a hidden jewel !!!

Haha, ya you're right. Actually the amputation was from an olfa blade and it was so clean that after it was glued back up, it probably wouldn't have looked too dramatic in a photo anyway. Also keep in mind that this was before digital cameras and camera phones were so ubiquitous!

I always have my gun, especially out in the middle of nowhere, and a decent size knife also.

... basically for when your in the woods strutin' around.
To compliment the SR40c with the Crimson Trace light
I know a service pistol isn't what you want in terms of mother nature, but its my first pistol and all I got right now.
But... 180 grain FMJ +p is definitely what you want in terms penetration for the woods, cuz with a service round; a central nervous shot is your only real hope for anything larger than a feral dog or cat.
Sorry for being too lazy to post a real pic of my own for the gun

Regarding self-fusing silicone tapes... Are they all pretty much the same or are there differences to consider when evaluating for a trail-kit? Are they a replacement for duct and electrical tapes or does duct/elec tape still have a role in the kit?
Same question too for metal-epoxies. The big unknown for me here is the cure time. What do you carry?
Finally, are there any new essentials recently on the scene that should be considered?
