Good Morning,

Having recently installed the TM-36 on my 351, I will share what I found. I have no snorkel, FMF Mega Bomb, FMF Q4, Smog Delete, and a myriad of other mods. It should be similar to what you will experience.

I started with this:

-Fuel/Air 2 turns out

-Stock Air Jet

-15 Pilot: Lean w/ hanging idle

-P6 Needle Jet: not terrible...

-Stock Needle (#50) in Stock Position (middle slot): [U]Lean w/ flat spot

-125 Main: Lean w/ flat spot and detonation

I rode the bike a few times and re-jetted as appropriate to find the optimum settings. I ended up with:

-Fuel/Air 2 1/4 Turns Out: Good idle around 1300 RPM

-17.5 Pilot: Good idle, good response.

-Stock Air Jet: Choose to change pilot instead.

-P6 Needle Jet: Seems to be on the money, great response and sound.

-Stock Needle (#50) 2nd Notch Down from the Top: Good response, Good sound.

-130 Main: Great response, no more detonation, great top speed. Could probably go larger one step.

I hope your bike jetting is close, my bike is now even more fun. The throttle response is amazing compared to the stock bike.

Hi Boglor

This is great information. Thanks so very much. I have my airbox lid on, so I think I would wind up a bit leaner than you. I think I am beginning to zero in on jetting changes. Now I need to round up a cable etc. due to running a Clark tank. I suppose I could go back to the stock tank until I get the jetting worked out.;

Did you run the bike with the stock carb for any length of time? I am curious t know what difference the TM36 will make over the 351 kit alone.

So far it seems like either the 15 or the 17.5 pilot along with the P6 Needle Jet and a 130 would work out for me. At least it would be a very good place to start.

Again, anyone with good jetting numbers feel free to chime in.

Hello again,

I did in fact run the bike for quite a while, around 7400 miles, with the CV-34 and 351. The TM-36 is a whole different animal as far as fuel delivery and therefor acceleration is concerned. The TM-36 provides a much snappier response and is downright impressive when you do the switch. I found that I really enjoy how much of a difference it has made to the fun factor of this bike.

I should also clarify that I have my snorkel removed, not my air box lid. Removing the air box lid adds too much noise for my taste.

I had to reroute my cables to make the reach underneath my IMS Fuel Tank. I had to get creative with the stock cables. Zip ties might have been applied to some areas. I don't condone this to anyone of course, I'm just willing to live with it.

I hope it all works out for you.

'06 KLX w/300 cylinder...TM36-68. Main jet 127.5...fuel pilot jet 17.5...air pilot jet .9...needle jet P4...needle the 51...needle position 3rd notch from top...pump opens at 1/8th and quits at 3/4. Running big opened airbox lid, full Muzzy exhaust, and 2-stage UNI air filter. Gets great gas mileage and excellent power delivery. Home elevation 1700, but this setup works well all the way to 6000 feet quite well.

Edit: I was out at our club's riding location where we were setting up for the Concho National Enduro this past weekend when I posted this so I was going from memory. I am correcting the needle type. I run the 9EBY01-50...same as Mustang and Dan Moore...not the 9EBY01-51.

Also have K&N filter and no screen. I set the pump to come on right away and stop at 3/4 throttle. That would be a Vortex, for sure. I'm always dialing in things so an item may change w/o notice. Bottom line is that I'm stoked about this settup and going out riding again today w/o any adjustments.

This is what I am going to try first. I also have a 130 main and 15 pilot coming. I figure running the snorkel and stock filter may make it a bit richer.

Pilot: 17.5 (VM28/486)
Main: 132.5 (N100.604)
Needle jet: 568 series P4
Jet needle: 9EBY01-50 – clipped in 3rd from the top

To review:
150 ft, elevation.
Stock box and filter with KDX snorkel
P Bomb with Q4.

Stop for a minute..... You asked for our info and I just gave you a recipe that works. I arrived at this point by working things properly ie getting the idle cicuit correct first and so on and so forth. It kind of looks to me that you've decided on what to throw in there all at once. ? That's not how to tune a carb. Take things one step at a time, Grasshopper .

Sorry if I came across a bit tight. Think about what you're doing. TNC is at 17oo ft. You need something/changes that better correspond to his settings. Don't resize your jets in the wrong direction.
