Default Speedo Cable Replacement

Hi guys,
Long time lurker, and i think, my first post, so go easy!!

I have A 07 KLX 250, my first real bike, and i love it!! Since i have had it i have done over 3000k's of off road action, with no real problems to report.

On my last recent ride, i managed to rip out the speedo cable, with a log, no real drama. My question to you guys is, when replacing the cable, do you grease the cable? or just install the new one and go?. I greased mine, and i am just wondering what all you guys would do.

Thanks.

It should be a sealed system, so greasing isn't likely to attract any additional dirt that isn't already in the system. I grease the speedo cables in my sleds.

If it were an open system (i.e. throttle cable) I would stick to a dry-type lube.

My '09 speedo is all electronic, so I don't have that issue.

If you are paying $300 for a $100 bit you have massive problems

Okay... My bad.

Not everyone wants a $129.95 (plus shipping) fix for a $14.09 (plus shipping) problem.

Better???
