Slip on and jetting
Hello fellow KLXer's just got a question. I have jetted bikes before (2 smokers) but since the KLX250 has been around for a long time if I was to put a FMF Q slip-on my all stock 2014 is there a jet set that has a good chance of being done once and done? I am @ sea level. Everything else is factory stock and would leave it that way. Just looking for look and more thump.
Thanks

Look around in here and compare set-ups to what you want.

I used the chart and it worked pretty well.
My bike runs very strong through the rev range but gets crap MPG, at least compared to the very lean stock set-up. I'm learning to live with it, but I need a bigger tank to avoid the gas station every other day.

For a walk on the wild side of power, order a DJ 136 ($2.00), use the DJ spring, put the DJ needle on 5N, fully unseat the fuel screw (4 turns out) , pull the lid and enjoy a Dyno proven 21.5 - 22.6 hp ( near sea level ).. P.S. You'll still be a little lean.

I have the DJ stage 2 setup with the snorkle removed. Mine too, runs and starts very well at 4200', and like you, I'm not too thrilled with the mpg - 54 on the trails. What is your mileage?

I went from a pretty consistent 55-60mpg on the road to 40-45mpg. Trail mileage is always better as my speed and rpm is much lower, but it's still not the same as it was.
I have the needle on the 3rd and a 124 main, lid on, and snorkel in. I'm going to remove the snorkel and see if there's more power, if there is, I might back the needle down and change the main a size smaller and put the snorkel back(lot's of water here).
It is running great, I passed an 18 wheeler that I never would have been able to get around in time before, so I haven't messed with it because I don't have heat in the shop and cold metal sucks to work with.

Running these engines lean is, apparently, par for the course in here - given what I see on the spreadsheet and what I see on my dyno AFR charts.. Everything changes - not just the big power jump, but even the sound of the engine - when you set up a proper AFR along with a slip-on and, in my case, no lid..

I've been getting consistent 47-50 mpg at 5k ASL with 124/126 main jet, needle in 3/4n, lid removed and FMF PC4 slip on. I ride this thing hard every day in stop and go traffic and open highway.
If you remove the lid and jet to stage 2 with a dynojet kit you will be very happy with the increase. If you want more you can raise the needle to 4N or 5N.
