Preliminary Results - DJ140, #40 pilot
The minutiae : Near sea level - light rain, 75 degrees F - DJ 140 main jet - #40 pilot jet, DJ needle on bottom notch (5N) - lid off - Full FMF system(megabomb+Powercore4) - MCM - Fuel screw set while idling: Starting at about 1 turn out. Turned outward(richer) until idle lowered, then turned back in until idle came back up.
After several rides, this setup gives stupid power up high and carb's cleanly everywhere else. Based off my dyno charts, the AFR is probably rich for this exhaust system up to around 5-6k rpm, but it does carb cleanly down low..
There is no discernible power slackening at all on the way to redline - it pulls hard and before you know it, your at ignition cutoff.. It pulls so hard and fast that I kept hitting cutoff accidentally.. It feels like it could go on forever..
I set up this carb for the stock header+DGR, which needs a rich low and mid range - but the FMF was already on the bike.. As soon as it cools down, I'm putting on the DGR and going for another ride.. Be right back..

Well, the DGR test ride got messed up when I realized the rear tire was flat.. I'm pretty sure it wasn't flat during the FMF test ride - perhaps it was low and my "hooning" killed it.. I could tell right away it was flat when I fired out on the DGR.. I jammed air in it and rode around the ranch house some.. At first, it spins and goes sideways on every throttle jab, then as the tire went flat, it would wheelie while spinning the rear tire .. Seems to carb cleanly but I gotta fix that flat right quick..

Ok, flat fixed and DGR test ride done.. Power band definitely starts to sign off after 9k RPM compared to the high dollar FMF system.. BUT, that's a given as the DGR+stock header produces TRQ over Hp.. (The DGR pretty much keeps the same O.D. as the stock header all the way up to the muffler.) The throttle response and power far surpasses the FMF up to around 6.5k rpm though.. When you jab or nail the throttle below 7k it immediately hits hard in a way the FMF'd engine doesn't..It carbs cleanly and is a real hoot..
Time to get'r on the Dyno..
