Will do. Hope to have it all done with a re-jet by the end of the month.

I have the PC4 on both my bikes - way too loud for me stock, without any kind of db killer insert. I tried to order one but waited 3 months because they were backordered and finally gave up. I made my own sheet metal silencer/end plug for both bikes. Much quieter (but still much louder than stock, and likely louder than the Q4) - the point it's at is tolerable, but still a little loud.

For the silencer, I just took some sheet metal and made a cone with a cylindrical base out of sheet metal, a hole in the base for the screw to go into and done. the tip of the 'cone' is about 3/4" in diameter (effectively reducing the exhaust outlet to about 3/4" diameter) and points into the muffler. I noticed an appreciable decrease in loudness with no noticeable decrease in power, whereas I noticed a clear difference in power between the stock muffler and the PC4.

Powercore 4 with a quiet insert was the solution for me.
As the standard exhaust was far too loud.

Like others have said, definite decrease in volume without any noticeable decrease in performance.

Well everyone I got my Q4 on and WOW you guys were right! She is perfect! Just what I was looking for. Quiet at idle but under throttle she has THUMP!

I re-jetted the carb and took it for a ride. Jetting feels spot on! Stock the klx needed to be warm to run perfect. Cold would have a little flat spot @ 3000-3500rpms. That is GONE! Bike started right up and ran perfect!

Thank you very much fellow KLXers! She is a whole new bike!

Congrats!!

You should try taking the tip out for a ride and see how you like it. It's not much louder but its thumpier - more bass sounding. I liked it but live in an appartment and wanted to keep it as quiet as possible. I was running a quiet core insert with the baffle and it was significantly more quiet even still.

looks like this:

I had some carb issues that came up after I did this so I'm running with the stock tip until I sort it out.

Thanks, That would be interesting to try. I was really surprised how load it is. Was afraid it was going to be a little on the too quiet side of things. My first thought was WOW I am glad I didn't buy the Powercore!

Last night I saw a tip on here to make little brackets to lower the Q4 just a 1/2 inch or so to get more clearance at the airbox and right turn signal. They are not melting but a little close for my liking.

This will be todays little project.

Well after looking at it lowering the q4 will make more clearance at the top but makes it close to the bottom corner. It really needs to be where it is. After loosening it all up I was able to adjust it to have a good fingers worth of clearence all way around.

Alrighty, I finally got my quiet core insert in and I must say it's friggn sweet! Right now I'm running a stock header with a Q4, the muffler I got new and it's got close to 12k miles on it now and I've yet to repack it. I have new packing waiting to get installed but as of now the db went from 92-93ish to about 89. With my old phone it was as loud as 96 but I'm not sure how accurate that was...So anyway, I'm sure it's safe to say I got at least a 3 or maybe 4 db reduction on a Q4 with 12k miles.

As for the tone it's a bit more thumpy and less snappy or crackley sounding. It's definitely much more quiet and around 40 mph with wind noise at a steady cruise speed you almost hear more engine racket then exhaust noise now. I love it! My next step is to re pack the muffler and install my eBay header.
