Default Powercore or q4

I need help. Been going back and forth. Does anyone have a q4 that wish it was louder or a powercore that you needed a quiet insert? I want a good thump but not stupid loud. Tried youtube and makes me think powercore but you know how sound quality is doing that. I will be using a megabomb header. Thanks

You know I'm having hell properly fueling Megabomb+PC4+lidless @ near sea level..?

All I've managed to do is get the top end ( 7k to red line ) correct with a DJ144 main jet.
Of course, the power it's making up there IS incredible...

It seems all aftermarket systems are too loud to "hot rod" out in the hoods.. My two are.. What I am finding out - during helping members with setups - is that the quiet tips add enough backpressure to alter the jetting/needle setups on a Q4 - therefore power levels.. As time goes on, I'll learn more..

That's good to know. I am at 90ft sea level. I will call that +1 for q4. Thanks

Ahh, well ok.. Just know that if you insist on getting all the top end power you can, your looking at lidless with a "biggy" main jet, some kind of needle setup (that I haven't quit figured out yet), and leaving any "quiet tip/insert" on the shelf..

My vote goes to Q4, it's already a bit loud IMHO. I don't dislike it personally but I wish it were a bit more quiet so it doesn't bring as much attention to me. As far as performance goes that's all KLXster, he knows his shyt, all I know us my bike runs great per the specs on my signature.

My Q4 is borderline too loud and makes great power with the big bore. I cannot imagine the powercore4. The Q4 is more $ but worth it to my ears.

Chiming in with a Q4 as well.

It's tolerable with the stock insert or this one: PT#: 040630

You can take the stock tip out for a really aggressive sound as well... each tip seems to have an impact on what jetting set up you should use - at least that's what I've found while working through my current problems with KLXSTER.

Thanks guys I was afraid the q4 would not be much louder then stock. Sounds like the q4 is just what I am looking for.

I think you will be happy with the Q4.
Loud enough and too loud are all personal preferences, but I am not sure anyone has complained that the Q4 was too quiet. If you live in a neighborhood, your neighbors will definitely know that you have changed your exhaust with a Q4.

I have only one day with my new Q4 and Powerbomb header. Definitely deeper sounding (very dirt bike-ish!) and pretty mild until you get on it. The bike is definitely more responsive, revs freer, and sounds great - I like it! I also purchased the "quiet insert" designed for the Q4 but have not tried it yet.
I am also still fiddling with tuning a bit as I made several changes when I had the carb out (Upped the main to DJ128, and had been wanting to increase the pilot to 38 for a while so I did that too, dialed the pilot screw back from 2-5/8 to about 2)... pretty close to where it should be... I think?

That said, I suspect you would be happy with a Q4!

God Bless,
TC
