Parts interchangeability (06-07 to 09-14)
How interchangeable are the 06/07 parts with the 09-up bikes? I have a chance to pick up some spare parts for cheap (rear brake pedal, front and rear calipers, both radiators, etc.), but they are from an 06/07 bike, and my KLX's are 2009 and 2011's.
Looking up OEM parts, most of the part #'s are different, so I'd assume that generally they won't work - I was surprised as I thought the bikes were more similar and would be able to interchange more parts?

I don't currently 'need' any of the parts, but would be nice to have as spares, at the price. Brake pedal on my son's 09 KLX250 is a little bent up - a replacement would be nice. His left rad has taken a hit - still works and no leaks, but a spare would be handy.

I may have some 2006/07 parts (front and rear brake calipers, front brake master cylinder with brake lever, left and right radiators, etc.) for sale shortly...

IMS Products : 09-13 Kawasaki KLX250S 3.0 gal Fuel Tank
Some of the tanks are for the 06-07 only, and some are for the 09 and up models. Some of the 06-07 tanks will fit the 09-up with some modifications, I understand, though.
As I understand, all the parts are the same for the 09-14. There are, however, differences between the 06-07 models and the 09-up models. Keep in mind that outside of North America, the 09 (08 in some areas?) and up KLX250S are generally EFI, rather than carbureted, so there are some other differences there. I believe the Asian and European markes get the EFI model - I'm not sure about Australia and other locations.

So the calipers wouldn't work with your mounting brackets? That's a bummer and good to know. Sorry it didn't workout. I guess it's good my fleabay caliper deal never showed up and I got my money back...
My rear caliper is missing a piece of the housing(due to salt corrosion) that holds in the outer seal. It's fine until the seal pops out and jams on the rear brake!
The search continues for me too.

If the p/n's are different, chances are the parts are different, unless the difference is only cosmetic such as paint. There was some difference in a p/n between my '09 and my buddy's '10. I called a factory tech and he told me that it was only the color. Purpose of me going into this background is that you could always try and determine on particular parts with a factory tech what the real difference is.

So, the calipers aren't going to be useful to me, so I'll sell them. They're from an 06-07 KLX250s, in good condition, both with good brake pads installed. $25 each, plus shipping.
