oil Filter question
Hey all,
Just wondering. I just changed my oil filter on this bike for the first time (only been 600km since I got it), but every other bike I've owned with a oil filter cover, when the cover is removed, has quite a bit of oil that drains out.
SO, I made a nifty catch for the excess oil, opened the cover, and very little oil in there... the filter was wet with oil, but catch was not needed. Didn't even need a rag really. It's been sitting for almost 2 weeks tho.
Yes, the oil tubes were lined up.
Is this normal? That's there's very little oil behind the actually cover?

Was your bike leaned over to the opposite side? Regardless there's not much oil pooled up in the cavity normally. And if yours was idle for two weeks, it had maximum time for the oil to drain back down. Nothing to worry about.

Nothing to worry about...The KLX has a low pressure/low volume oiling system that is more in line with a splash system. I think that the spec for oil pressure is about 15 psi-it doesn't take alot of pressure to keep the cams floating in the head and the rest of the circuit is designed to splash oil on the rest of the ball bearings.
