I know this isn't the '250, or Kawa for that matter, but you guys have been very knowledgeable in general, so here goes...

My son's '04 DRZ-110 has a problem returning to idle after a rev. It is kind of dangerous because it wants to keep going when in gear. You really have to apply the brakes to get it to slow, no engine decel at all. Any ideas? I tore the carb apart and found the pilot jet clogged, which fixed the "only run w/ choke" issue it also had. It otherwise runs strong.

Thanks,
Donnie

It sounds like a cable is sticking. But a good test is with the bike off, twist the throttle all the way and then let it go, does it snap back? Just a thought.

What deej said, or hanging/holding revs is often an indication of a vacuum leak somewhere. Does it eventually come back down to idle?

That's what this guy found.

Sounds like a vacumn issue, check the vacumn hoses for kinks, blockages, etc. Have you had the tank off? Maybe kinked a line?

Clean the entire carb if you havent, make sure the spring on the carb will snap close when you let off, do what deej said also. Follow the throttle cable and make sure there are no cuts or anything in the line where the line could grab something.

Thanks everyone. I will investigate the vacuum and Deej's suggestion. It does eventually come back down to idle.
