Just finished the rotor swap and I'm pleased that it now has enough power to lock up the wheel with two fingers. I did a nice outing through the Conesaga outback and single finger stops are nice-it helps to be able to keep my fingers wrapped around the grip.
Franco, thanks again.

Ride Report: 2015 bike now has the 351 big bore kit from bill blue. Bills customer service was top notch. even though i was 5 states away bill picked up the phone when i called and we chatted like he was just a crossed town. kit arrived with all parts undamaged. A trusted local mechanic installed the kit for me and i have over 2000 miles on it now without a hick up. the smog stuff was taken off and the stock carb and pipe are still there. the mechanic did adjust the jetting, and bored the center cap of the exhaust out. I am about to purchase my second rear shinko 244 4.60 17 inch rear and have been very happy with the shinko performance. still using the first front tire as the wear is minimal. Dirt no problem, road no problem, hooligan stairs 16+ no problem. with the 17inch wheels you do get some slight wash out when off roading, but nothing you can't handle d/t bike being lower center of gravity, you just balance with the feet. Also with the lower center of gravity I've been able to "walk it up" a lot of hills that even the ktm guys i ride with are laying it down on because they ride a lot higher The 351 kit adds serious torque now, it gets with the program from 0-60. the top speed is still 70 to 75 at 8.5 thousand rpm but it maintains this speed at a constant even up 7-8% grade vs stock that would bog to 60mph. stock gearing on the sf still as well. I am 240lb and 5'11''. The shocks are a bit light for my frame but with a skid plate i made using bread board heated and molded wrapped in pop metal fastened to the bike with american hose clamps i haven't killled the bike yet I do think the next upgrade will be larger tank as the 35ish mpg I'm getting now limits me to about 40 miles or less

I am running 5.10r17 shinko 244 on the back and the 3.0r17 shinko244 on the front. Just a tad slower steering and sounds like a B17 bomber coming down the road at some speeds. Works pretty well, especially in the rear. The front definitely does just "ok" on trails, traction is good actually with that wide tire as long as you dont go too fast, but the major problem is the 17" size, it bounces off everything as opposed to rolling over it, makes for a rough ride and running over stumps and rocks becomes a real chore.

I recently swapped a spare 21" S front rim that I just put on and other than looking like crap (IMO) with the 17/21 setup as opposed to 18/21, it does better offroad, but on road handling really takes a nose dive compared to the 17/17 SF combo. That laser like handling is gone and it feels like youre steering through pudding. I bought a 2013 KX450 front fender for use because it looks butt ugly with the SF fender and a 21" up front.

Overall the bike looks 10X cooler with the knobbies in SF mode. 21" front kind of looks...odd. I think the best combination is honestly to lace up a 19" front rim, and run a 17/19 combo, that is very common on adventure/true dual sport bikes

I just swapped in a Kenda K270 5.10x17 onto the front of my 2009 KLXSF
I know it's gonna steer a bit more sluggish...but I bomb a lot of gravel/fire roads as well as hardball.
And the toothy grin in the front fits the aesthetic I live in better.
