First post here to say hello and introduce myself. I live in South Jersey and will be riding primarily in the Pine Barrens - lots of sand. It's a great place to ride, but being street legal is a must. After looking around, I settled on the 2006 or 2007 KLX250S as my bike of choice.
I took my time and found a very clean 2006 with 850 miles on it. It already had an HMF pipe on it and was jetted perfectly, pulling much stronger than the other KLX250's I looked at. I've since added new bars & handguards, 3.7 gallon Acerbis tank, Kenda Trakmaster rear & Kenda Southwick front tires, front & rear rimlocks, folding mirror and smaller turn signals so I can wipe out in peace. I also set the suspension a bit stiffer to help in the sand.
So far I'm really pleased. I went with 100/100-18 on the rear for a light feeling and the bike feels great. I thought I'd go right to a 351 kit, but I'm going to hold off for a while. I also want to test a 13 tooth CS on the front. I tried putting it on last night and all I got was a backache - couldn't budge it even with a breaker bar.
Anyway, here's a few pics as it sits now.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. That's good advice, ride it for a season then go for the 351 next winter. For $500 or so, its hard to pass up.
I spent some time searching old threads and it seems like I'm not alone on the CS Sprocket. I'll give it another go tomorrow armed with some of the tips I picked up on the forum.

At lunch today (I work from home) I went at the front sprocket again. My impact wrench wouldn't budge it, but when I put the front wheel against the wall and wedged a long adjustable wrench between the swingarm and sprocket, it popped loose with a breaker bar and some pipe to add leverage.
Also had the time to T-Mod the two carb vent lines. Looks like it might be warm enough here in NJ to ride this weekend. Can't wait!
Thanks for the help.
