What about a versys? It's a 650, but it looks like you sit a little more upright than a ninja and might feel more like the sf that you're used to... I've never ridden one to know this for sure, just thought it may be another option.

I've spent some time in the saddle of a Versys & yes it's a great mile muncher with a comfortable seat & ideal for cruising with it's torquey engine BUT it's a real tall bike! I'm 6'3" & found the ride height a little challenging around town.

I would recommend the CB500F or CB500R, they are quite low & pretty light weight for a 500cc. Great for the highway without being to big & heavy or to powerful to handle.

Well, I went on the site and checked seat height and the Ninja 650 wasnt all that much higher. So, I went back to my dealer. and sat on the 650 and to my surprise it felt better. The handle bars are closer to the klx's then the 300. I'm kinda more in a upright position and my feet still touch the ground. So, monday/tuesday I told him to get the 650 ready for the test drive instead of the 300. So, I may be going for the N650 instead. not sure what the milage is on that. but, 4.2 gallons. So, I still hope to get 200 miles on the bike before I have to refuel.

Also, it's the 2014 Ninja 650 ABS version. I felt ABS Miiiight be a bit more forgiving to me.

Must be nice to get test rides, the dealers around my parts want a down payment the second you glance at a bike...

Well, my family is really close to the dealer. We bought a lot of stuff from atv's mopeds klx to now the ninja. So, they give us good deals and treat us good. they treat everyone good tbh. I wish i had a camera and mic and stuff to motovlog it for you guys. But, I think im gunna put those safety/guard/trick rail or w.e on the side just incase I do drop it. It won't do much.

Glad I could help with insight on the 650 Ninja. I chose it for my track days due to the upright seating position and the low seat height (sucks getting older and sucks being 5'6"). Worked out great and I was pleasantly suprised with the power and agility. But I'm a little speed demon on the track and was grinding everything @ the end of the first day, so SuperSport for the second day YeeHaa!

Should you buy it and once you're used to it, the 650 makes a pretty great little track bike as long as you're not too aggressive, not to mention a cool all arounder(except dirt of course). Good luck and glad you're looking at the ABS version!

Yeah, I don't think I'll do much tracking. Just go around town and go to the parks to see friends and throw some ladys on the back (after I practice for a few weeks) Nothing like scrapping a girls *** while trying to impress her rofl. lol but, it's all good. I hope it rides as good as I hope it does we don't got alot of twisty roads. So, i think I should be fine.

To let everyone know. I'm going back to the 300. Due to the fact that the 650 insurence would of cost 180 a month. From my 34. the 300 jumps it to 50. So, that sucks. But, i'm sure i'll enjoy the 300.
