Might be trading the klx250sf in...
I love the klx250sf. It's really all the power you need. I can ride on the free way at 70-75 unless its a windy *** day. It gets me from place A to B. But, I started to think of long trips and maybe just do a little bit more on the highway. I know people go crazy and get leader bikes and the such. But, that's not me. I don't even want a 600. So, I went into the shop and saw the new special edition ninja 300 (no abs) and I liked it. My feet touched the ground more. I felt a little bit more secure when on 1 foot. the bent over position wasn't as bad as I thought it was. But, the 1 major thing that didn't make me trade it in right then and there is....it's a whole new bike with different characteristic. The turning isn't going to be as nice. Pot holes are going to become a problem again. and dirt roads are a no go. So, next week I get to test drive it for a little bit and see how I really and truly feel about it. But, the turning is the one thing I truly want to try out. It kinda scares me. I was never much of a leaner per say. But, that test ride will tell me if I want this bike or not.
If anyone has drove a ninja special addition 300. or knows of the 250 maybe. Let me know what you thought of the bike compared to klx250sf. I don't off road at all. Only off road is the gravel roads on the outskirts.

Go big bore and gear down for long highway trips, fit a small windshield...problem solved.
Rode an EX-500 for years, I've ridden a Ninja 250, I prefer the upright and go anywhere attitude of the KLX better...JMHO, obviously.
The 500 was awesome on the highway at 80mph, the Ninja 250 not so much (too light and not enough power), the KLX you already know.
The 300 would be fun, just too many gravel roads around here for me.
And dirt roads can be ridden on any bike...the places I took my EX...if I only knew I could buy a DS at the time, I wouldn't have spent so much time unflattening the crossover exhaust pipe.

I've been wanting to trade my klx351sf in for a whle now, either for a dr650 or an xr650l...but can never make up my damn mind.
My buddy rides a ninja 300, he likes it, wishes he he a supermoto though. He doesn't ride any freeway so the bike isn't good for him. It'll do 110 I think. I beat his *** off the line up to about 40mph

I had a 250 back in the day (2001) and I think the KLX is a better bike overall especially with the big bore. The 250 still sucked on the highway but was a little better.
for highway travel anything less than a ninja 650 or KLR650 is going to suck IMO.

Really.. Go big or go home.. Your not gaining that much..
Step up bigger.. But like said keep the KLX. Save up for a bigger bike
My .02 I have a really nice Harley It's a great fun road bike about 25 k into it..
But I really like jumping on the KLX and someday I will sell the Harley but never the KLX
