Default Michelin T63

Anyone have any experience with these tires? I like the tread pattern a lot for gravel, but questioning how they handle the road.

I used to run them on my V65TT Guzzi.... a great handling tyre. Tried 1 on my KLR650 but they wear out too quickly compared to the Dunlop D606. I'm not sure they make them small enough for the rear of the KLX250.....

edit: they do make a 110/80 x 18 which would be a good fit I think. They are much more expensive than the OEM Dunlop D605 I keep buying......

Every place I look, I see them listed cheaper than the 606.

Griffo is talking about D605 (the stock tire) being cheap, not the D606. He must have access to them cheap down under...

You can take a look at the ride report inbedded in my signature and see pictures of what they looked like during the course of a 4600 mile ride. I thought they worked well on the XT225.

yep, I run the D606 on the KLR but the smallest rear is 120/90 x 18 which I think is way too big & heavy for the KLX.

I can buy a pair of D606 for $200 but a pair of D605 only cost $150....

By that report they sound very good, better than the stock on gravel. After that many miles they still look like they have quite a bit of tread left.

Default Like em just fine

Put on a set of T63s end of August in anticipation of a long weekend in Sept. From Thursday to Sunday road 730 miles including Back of the Dragon, part of the Hadfield/McCoy trails, a whole pile of forest service road, a bunch back roads in WV, and the Blueridge Parkway Parkway from Skyline drive to home in Roanoke, VA. They were great off-road but I was really surprised how sticky they were on the roads. Very confident inspiring and we really did a pile of twisting. I can tell they're going to wear pretty fast. The lower power of 250 will keep it from being ridiculous. I'm running a heavy duty rear tube, and a rim lock on back. I'd recommend them unless you're looking for a last-forever tire. Oh, and I'm on a '09 with all the mods short of a big bore kit.

Peace,

Joe

I could care less about longevity. I ride a lot of roads, but when I go off road 99% of the time I have long stretches of gravel road to pass and the stock 605 suck.
