KLX250SF runs and rides fine, then slowly dies
Hi Everyone,
New to the site. I've had my 2009 KLX250SF for about 6 months now with no problems, super reliable. But I just recently started having problems with the bike. It'll start up and idle fine, every time. I put it in gear it drives fine. Then all of a sudden while driving the motor slowly dies. It doesn't matter if I give it gas, it dies. Any help is appreciated. My first thought is possibly electrical, but I'm not sure.
thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam-
Welcome to the forum! Fellow 09 SF rider here. Regarding your issue, I'd guess maybe fuel related. Electrical issues in my experience are kind of on/off in nature, either it's working or not and will typically suddenly cut in or out. What you're describing might be something like a clogged fuel filter or vent line, where it barely gets enough fuel to idle, but any increase in load (fuel flow) and it can't keep up. After the bike dies, can it be restarted immediately, or does it need to sit for a while first?

So you haven't been 'working' on it?
I agree on the fuel suggestion. Check your fuel filter and flow from the tank to carb. If all that is good, it is something got in the fuel and your problem is in the carb.
And when it dies, does it just die, or does it sputter or pulse as you work the throttle?

I agree that it sounds fuel related.
If the bike is a CA spec, the charcoal canister might have fuel in it causing vapor lock.
When it happens, if it's like running out of gas, open the tank...is there a hiss? If so, the tank isn't venting properly.
