KLX250s will not change into gear after epic mud event
I got my 2007 KLX250s epicly stuck in the mud, after trying to power through it I noticed that the rear wheel wasn't spinning anymore. I never smelled any clutch, I can't figure out what's happened.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Sometimes it's better to stop and figure out what is going wrong. If the chain didn't break, I think your clutch is toast.
Technically I believe your bike is in gear, but no power is coming out.
Now, if you can't change the transmission gears, your shifting mechanism is broke.
"You can "change gears" but the engine just revvs. It will not go into gear." is a contradictory statement. If you can change gears, then it is into a gear.

I wrote "change gears" in quotes meaning it doesn't change gears. That's what quotes around something means.
Anyhow, I believe this is a shift star issue. 13091-1856 I think the pressure of mud acting on the shift lever may have forced it beyond its travel limits. There's also a pin in there that can get bent that is meant to limit travel and can hang things up.
I don't think it's the clutch and I don't think it's inside the tranny. I think it's in the part of the shift selector mechanism that's not actually in the cases.

Strange.
I'm not inclined to think it's a shift star issue or bent pin. It's pretty unlikely that it would fail in a neutral position, and not be able to shift into at least one gear.
To me, my first thought is clutch (it's a wet clutch, so you wouldn't smell it like you would a dry clutch in a car).
Next thought is jammed clutch actuator.
Or stripped countershaft.
