Default klx250s 4000km race

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice if possible. I have recently sold my KLX450R and put a deposit down on a new klx250s FI (UK model). I have entered the bike into the Baja 4000 which is 10 day rallye from LA to the bottom of the BAJA Peninsular and back. Its about 4700 km off road in 9 days.

I will be changing the bars, pegs and adding a bash plate. I suppose I will buy a slip-on and do the rev limiter derestrict. I will also change the tyres.

Is there any other weak parts on the bike that I should be aware of???? The rally is unsupported so I will need to carry any spares with me

Thanks in advance

Eden

Order new springs from race tech for your weight, the stocks springs are way to soft for high speed. Id do a complete suspension work before engine or slip on, and get a riser if your tall (makes stand up a lot more comfortable). Good luck oh and a aux led bar for night time driving

Thanks Tacoma660. Race Tech seem to have it all covered. I will drop them a line. Cheers

Want bullet proof, swap out the OEM cam chain tensioner now, don't wait for it to fail. If you are overseas wait until you come to the U.S. to order, saves a bundle on shipping.

PM me about it.

Remove the drop tail section, move the tail light up onto the rear fender, then change the rear turn signals out to something that does not stick out.
Don't put a lot of wt on the tail section, or reinforce the rear subframe.

Thanks Durielk. I agree that OEM light cluster is a bit of a joke.....belongs on an SUV. I will buy a smaller LED one.

Is it compulsory to have turn signals in the US and Mexico? I was thinking about just taking them off completely

edge drc tail light with 12 0clock lab board, it integrates the turn signals in the brake light so no turn signals stick out. Full wrap around hand guards to protect your hand and levers.

This is my setup geared towards faster trails

the led bar is around 2100 lumens but they have a 3x3 cube that puts out 3100 lumens. lifetimeleds.com. That is the kind of riding i like to do, the slow technical kind bores me.
