Default KLX-fork swap

So after an awesome dual sport ride this weekend, I decided I've got to do something with my suspension. My race bike is a KTM 300xc, so the KLX is a huge step down in that department.

I'm actually fairly happy with how the rear end works, but the front is beating me up pretty bad.

My first thought was to send it off to my normal suspension guy and see what he could do with it, but then I thought maybe there were some forks I could just swap out with and go from there.

There are some older KX forks that can be mated to the KLX, but honestly I think a set of Race Tech Gold Valves for the KLX300 work great. I did it to both ends of mine, and it was an easy mod.

I have to agree with TNC-I see that you have the same model as me and I had the same issue. The forks couldn't flow enough on compression and would just hammer you on sharp impacts. I installed Gold Valves for the compression circuits and the ride was transformed.

+1 for springs and Gold Valves - changes what you can do with the bike dramatically.

I'm curious, why the gold valves for the klx300? I see they have them for the klx250 (at a higher price). Do they work better or basically the same at a cheaper price?

When I did my '06 KLX, no one had anything but the GV's for the KLX300. If there is a direct model fit for the '09 and later KLX's now, that's great. I'd grab it.

Also there's the issue that the '06/'07 KLX250 has the same travel as the 300. This didn't prohibit the 300 kit from working excellently in the '09 and later models.

If Race Tech has them for the later model now, it's the way to go for those year models.

Another +1 for gold valves.
And proper springs if needed for your weight and riding style.
