Default TM36 with 351 kit jetting request

I just picked up a TM36 carb to go with my 351 kit.

I am running the KDX snorkel and a P Bomb header with Q4 exhaust. Could someone help me out with a starting point for jetting with this setup? I have looked around but not really found any threads have jetting listed for something really close to what I have.

Thanks for your help.

I still think this is the best overall TM-36-68 thread out there. Mustang and Dan Moore came up with what I think is the best jetting setup to start with. I only had to change the air pilot jet one step from their numbers to get a just about perfect setup.

Thanks for your help with this. Once jetted I'll post my results. I think my setup is pretty common and would be useful to have.

I guess that most people just use the pull cable. Can you verify? Is there a good source for a custom cable setup if needed?

Thanks
Adam

I think I am going to try 125 or 127.5 main
15 pilot.

Again, P bomb header, Q4 airbox lid on with KDX snorkel.

I don't know what needle and needle jet the carb came with so I will wait and see on that. Since it appears that my CV carb is dialed in pretty good and the new power of the 351 is exciting anyhow I am not in any kind of a rush.

What's your altitude? Even with my 11:1 300 kit, I was unable to run the 125 wihout it being too lean at 1700-4000 feet. Now, in Colorado at a constant 7000 and higher elevation, I had to run the 125 for it run clean at mid to WOT.

My altitude is basically sea level, 140 feet.

It would really help me out if you could supply me with what you think is a good guess.

I just need someplace to start.

I keep pouring over the pages but there are so many variables.

Maybe a 130 main is better? Maybe a 135?
17.5 pilot?

What about the jet needle and needle jet?

Jet Needles TM36 #9EBY01-50 2.50 Richer 007-105
GENUINE MIKUNI NEEDLE JET 568-P-6 (SKU 003-655)

That's what I had intended to do.

Start with the 130, 17.5 and the needle/needle jet combo on the middle clip you mentioned above. It'll be very close but you might have to adjust slightly

I believe if you're using the stock tank that you can use both cables. I'm not sure on this as I have a Clarke tank and it required grinding the top of the carb throttle wheel to clear the tank.
So I ended up using the pull cable only with the stock throttle tube and assy.

Some people just re-routed the stock pull cable and it worked for them. I tried this and made it work but it was a very tight installation and I didn't like the way I had to route the cable.

So I had a custom cable from Motion Pro
For the cable length for years 2006 & 2007 check thread
https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...7-bikes-34958/

There is a diagram for a 4 inch longer cable. If you have a later year bike you'll have to improvise but this will give you a starting point.
I sent this diagram to Motion Pro and they made the cable and it works great.
Only thing missing from the diagram is the length of the outer sheath.
I had them make the outer sheath 100mm shorter than the cable and it worked well for me.
You'll need to specify how long you want your outer sheath to be.

Doug

I also have a clarke tank. So that link was very useful. I'll order that from MP.

If anyone else has suggested jetting numbers please chime in.
