What's the point of removal, just to save a pound of weight?

My KLR250 had the vent hose run into the steerer tube.
Or you could run it along the frame toward the back then down so that is minimal chance of anything venting hitting anything hot. The stock vent lines all dump near the suspension rocker (below bottom of rear shock)

A pound of weight wouldn't be bad since I'm an elephant on this little bike. A lot of people have been posting that the exhaust runs a little cooler with out the smog stuff running through it. It would also make pulling the carb a lot easier. One other thing is the rubber straps holding the canisters in have cracked off on mine so crap is just sitting there with nothing holding it.
