Green Mountain and Tahuya Ride report!
Well Folks, after bugging me all summer to get together for a KLX ride, WhiskeyTF and I finally nailed down a date to meet somewhere in the middle between Forks and Seattle. And as I always do, I got there like an hour too early....I dont know there is just something about not wanting anyone to have to wait on me..
Anyhoo, Friday I took off a half day to gather up all the stuff, and got the truck loaded.
And so did WhiskeyTF
My track from home to there and our ride

Sat view
Ok so I was early.....so what was I supposed to do? I cracked open some more coffee and it was sandwich time!
And apparently I felt the need to warm my bike up for a few trips around the staging area..LOL
As you can see it was still dark when I got there, not bad for a 3 hour drive huh?
Riding partner sends me a message, "where's the sun" as he's heading toward the ferry
It's always an epic trip if you have to take a boat across to the riding area!
I take a few more pictures around the staging area.....hmmmmm I'm not liking this one, I got a bad feeling.
Some more
Booooooooo Now you have to get a pass to park on any DNR or other state land. I'm not liking this one bit. But what are you gonna do, either pay $30 a year, or $11.50 a day, or $107.00 ticket.
It finally got light out.
Trailhead
About 15 minutes later, this white car pulls up, 2 guys get out, and the gal stays there. She gives me a story that she came to get someone and take them back from here to North Dakota, her car had plates from there, but she acted kind of nervous. I sent the plate number to someone I know to see if they could run them, but I got shot down, something about how would he explain it if the car was stolen and such as, not sure I got a good laugh. The two guys never came back by the time we took off, then it dawned on me, they were collecting "plants" for the trip home.
Whiskey shows up!!! It's on like Donkey Kong! or Mario Brothers, I forget.

Let's take a look!.....uhhhhh yeaaaaah about that.

But we couldn't complain, it was a perfect day, no major clouds, and the sun was out.
After hitting a gravel road and taking a shortcut that a guy on a tractor told us about, my bike decided to take a dirt nap.
Gas poured out of the overflow tube, but I had to get a picture. Surprisingly the bike started right back up after sitting there for 30 seconds. I told Whiskey that he was witnessing a rare occasion in that my bike has only been down one other time, and that was on purpose.
Turning around
We rode this loop, and decided to load the bikes back up and drive to another area called Tahuya State Forest
Tahuya is a great trail system, but the whoops can really wear you out! The trail system has a lot of the bridges that are fun to ride across. So we stopped for a photo opportunity.
Random view
We ended the day with about 60 miles, not a record breaker but fun still. We then loaded the bikes back up and drove to Bremerton to transfer his bike back onto his truck.
Driving by the shipyard
Then it was off to grab a bite to eat at the Silver City Brewery.
On the way home I snapped a few pictures of the sunset. Ok focus camera, and don't wreck...check!
Crossing the Hood Canal Bridge
Picture of my bike with the cab brake light reflecting as I drove down the road. Ok again, trying not to run off the road, I turn off the flash, reverse the camera, and touch the brakes...got it! whew!
Next day clean up
Now I know that this doesn't compare with some of you other monkies on here, but when you think about how clean I keep my bike, then for me its just as dirty. LOL?
Ahhhhhhhh that's better.
Well that's it from me, hopefully Whiskey will throw up some pictures.

You guys were in my old stomping grounds. I grew up riding bikes (mostly mountain bikes) to and in the green mountain system. I lived on Newberry Hill there right out of Silverdale, my baby sister was a waitress at the silver city brewery too.
So before they logged green mountain it was great and then the logging destroyed it. Are there many miles of trail there now?
