Default GPS Mapping App's for Phone or iPad?

Tried searching with no success. Looking to use either my iPhone or iPad Mini with a puck style Bluetooth GPS and topo/mapping software with downloadable maps. Anybody using a similar setup?

I have a HTC windows phone 8 and when out riding I use the Hike & Bike app.
This app is also available in the apple App Store which may be worth looking at.

Yep, used my iPad mini twice now for trips away. Using Motion-X so all maps are downloaded prior t travel so no need for cell signal. You just have to make sure you buy an iPad with 3G capability (no need to have a SIM in it)

You can sort of make it out here on the KLR

and here it is on the KLX

I swear by my Gaia GPS app on my iPhone. 100s of maps, works offline, pretty accurate.

Yeah, YT video says it's free, but tried to get it, and it's $20 bucks. Thats the most expensive app I've ever seen. Just wish there was a way to try it before buying. Like a free trial period.

Yes, I paid $18 for it about 4 years ago. Had it on my iPhone 4, and now on my 6. It's easily paid for itself

Cool, I don't have a problem paying for it IF I like it and does what I need. Is there somewhere online that I can get more info about this app? Just wnt to make sure It's going to be what I'm looking for. Looks like it does, just not sure. Need it to navigate 2,800 square mile state forests in NJ. I use satellite now, but it kind sucks. But in a pinch, it keeps me from getting lost.
