Default Getting back On/Off the road again!

Bringing out the 07 from hibernation in the garage:

It is nice being able to go online, purchase & print out my insurance card. CT DMV made me renew with new plates because the bike was off road for more than 1 year. $67

Recommendations for getting ready to run again?

Bike had oil change before storing/tank topped, fuel stabilizer added/carb run dry & tender on new battery that was unplugged (unknown time ago)

Drained the tank and added fresh fuel and a new battery. Lubed the chain & took out for a ride.

Everything was great untill I got a flat tire!

I'd been told avon distanzia is a good on-road/off road tire.

I road mostly roads and the distanzia is a 80 percent offroad tire.

they have a guarantee from there website if you have a certified shop install the tire with receipt, and fill out a paper. they will replace that tire free of charge.

seems some of these tires got a bad wrap at one time, having some sort of metal tag on the inside.

I know a guy that has a Yamaha dirt bike, and heard they were a great tire.

I haven't completely wore down my Dunlop 605's, but when I do, I plan on getting a set of distanzia's. hopefully not anytime soon though, because Im a cheap ***.

if you ride a lot of offroad, you could go Tu-Bliss.

Tomorrow morning I will pull the wheel off & see if the tire survived 2 miles without air.

Nobody has DOT Legal DS tires in the area(Fairfield Cnty CT) for sale, may have to order one if I can't get by with a new tube!

Edit: New tube & band/mounted & ready to go!

i think you're going to have a lot of fun. The KLX has a lot of potential as one wants to unleash it. The jetting and snorkel are the first steps, then probably a less restrictive exhaust - except for the noise factor. Then a carb swap to a flat slide pumper and finally a big bore for increases in performance.

On the suspension both the front and back are rebuildable and revalvable so it is possible to get tailored suspension for under $500. Fact is even the $10,000 bike riders do that to get their suspension to suit them.

With the right buy a rider could do the whole shooting match and have less than $4000 in the bike with essentially new everything except bottom end if you took time to lube up the bearings everywhere.
