Me cuz I need one and he had one, and him cuz he lost money on a sale. I would have given him up to $80 bucks for it. Who throws $80 bucks in the trash.....LOL Oh well. He doesn't seam like the type to hold on to stuff just incase. To each his own I guess. It worked out anyway in the end.

Thanks though for the heads up on that thread. You can see I posted there a while back. I appreciate it.

Yeah, so I figured out what happened. The upper rear mount bolt fell out. So it dropped just enough to hit the pipe. I have the box out now. Hole is the size of a quarter, so I'm just going to patch it up. I have sheet metal and will silicone and rivet it on. Should seal enough for my water crossings every now and then. Thank god it's on the dirty side, or I would need a replacement. I also have heat tape shielding and exhaust wrap. I'll do 2 layers of wrap in that spot. It won't melt no more, that's for sure.

Thanks guys.....

Hey Guys,

Not here to defend FMF, but I will share that I installed a Q4 with the Power Bomb header on my 2012 and have at least 3/8" clearance at the airbox, close but not quite a 1/2"
After bending the guard by the rear foot peg according to the instructions, I put the high temp silicon on the joint and slipped it together and installed the fasteners "not quite tight" and then manipulated the position pipe and muffler to get the most clearance from head to tailpipe before snugging everything down. Twisting that joint between the header and muffler one way or the other really effects that orientation of the whole exhaust assembly...
Good luck and here's to no more melted airboxes!

I have the FMF Q4 on my bike , with no clearance issues with the air box. It did however melt the bottom of my indicator light. I shimmed my new light with a piece of plastic to raise it up just a little. I have since inserted a quite core which has a smaller hole dia and no more melting.

Forgot to mention the turn signal issue - again no problem on my '12.

Mine is a 2013 . I believe the problem is the pipes may not be bent the same or different batches may be slightly different, that's why some people have problems while others don't.

Ah, manufacturing variances... if that is the case, that's too bad as FMF certainlty has a jig that can make them fit right!
I suppose there are manufacturing variances out of the Kawasaki factory too, though I suspect the Thailand plant is more more mechanized and consistent than a smaller specialty manufacturer???

Default Anyone still looking for a replacement airbox?

If it is still available, looks like a screaming deal:

1° change on each bend on the header pipe may be enough to cause some issues. all parts have a + -tolerance. I don't think exhaust pipes are with thousands of an inch.
I loosened the header pipe when i installed my FMF , when all the bolts were in place, tightened everything up starting with the header.
