Default CVK DJ#136 w 5N Preliminary Results.

Tested Setup: DJ 136 main jet, DJ Needle at 5th notch down instead of 3rd (5th is the most bottom notch.) and reset fuel screw to 3.5 out from 3.. Ambient temp 47F.. Fuel is at least 4 months old.. See additional info on my Signature line..

Test ride on my little test route. The bike carbs cleanly and well. 3rd gear, 3k RPM, snap and hold to WOT produces powerful power all the way to 10k with no flat spots, sputters,or any other indications of problems.

The dirt section - slow in first gear with snaps and holds to WOT produced a leap of power in the RPM band similar to a 2 stroke coming up on the pipe or a 4 stroke coming up on the cams.. It got dark on me so I will test ride more tomorrow. I suspect the 5N finally richened up the midrange and the standard (#35) pilot jet is too small ( I know past 3 turns mean larger pilot needed ) AND so the jump from the pilot system to the needle produces a leap in power as the RPMs' rise to, and past, that transition... Opinions?

This is definitely "Next Level" as far as the feel of the power.. Old gas and cool air, it wheelies in first without me expecting it..

That's good to know. I am experimenting a bit with richening things a bit from Dynojet's recommendations. When I richened up my bike to DJ 132 mj, and the needle on the 4th slot, it had a stutter at low rpm/grab a lot of throttle.
My bike specs are -
'09 KL 250 S
MCM, Uni filter, snorkel off, DJ kit, 300 head pipe, '94 250 muffler(seems to be the same as 300), machined end cap with a 7/8 hole.
Roughly just above sea level
Putting the needle back to 3rd slot cured the stumble.

Eric, I wish I knew exactly how to help you with that stutter - I had it too, every once in a while when running 132/4n. If I was in San Jose with your bike, I'd put the needle on 5N, turn the fuel screw 3.5 turns out, take the lid off the airbox, and give er a good long ride. The 132 is not rich enough for your elevation , but that is the only option you have right now.. Read the article on my Sig line "CVK Setup Procedure" .. I'll see if I can help you more after I test ride some more..

Second test ride today.. Performance is phenomenal.. There is a new guttural growl that it never had before.. I'll try for a dyno test tommorrow - they weren't open today.. This is the best setup for performance that I have experienced.. Don't know if top end HP has improved but the power ramp-up is incredible..

Klxster,
Do you have a part number for the DJ 136? I'm guessing you ordered it straight from DynoJet?

I gotta try this out!

I could not resist a late night test ride using the full FMF system... Again, the bike carburets perfectly.. At this point the FMF is definitely more quiet than the DG-R.. The power is intoxicating.. The pull in the mid range may be even more than the DG-R + stock header.. But really, the increased power band is so new to me that I will have to let the Dyno tell the tale.. Hopefully, tomorrow, they will work me in for 2 runs - One with full FMF, one with DG-R..

Yes, boatdriver, I ordered it from DJ.. Costs a whopping $2 .. Your gonna need one too..

Klxster, what's your plug look like? Is it brown? Or is it black and despite conventional wisdom, adding more fuel = more power?

4vman1, I don't know plug color - I'm going off my AFR charts and the CV tuning site.
