Default Auxiliary Gas Tank!

Hey All,

I just got off the phone with Bill Blue to order some of his braided steel brake lines. During our conversation he told me that he was currently working on a one gallon, or so, auxiliary gas tank for the KLX 250s. According to Bill it will mount on the battery side of the bike. He is also considering one for the exhaust side as well by incorporating insulation and lowering the exaust about four inches.

In addition to the gas tanks he is working on some head mods as well.

Keep an eye on his website for updates.

Craig

Default Auxillary fuel tank

Ok, well since the cat is out of the bag already, here's where I'm at on our fuel tank.

I've done 2 mock-ups, and the capacity will be very close to 1.1 gal. We plan on making it a complete bolt on arrangement, of course.

We're doing the leftside tank first. I'm not convinced on a right side tank yet. I feel I want a ____ _____ on the bike to do this. About that, I'll only say __ _____ ___, because I have that in development now.

I think the first tank will be ready for prototype fab in a week. As long as a major rework or something weird doesn't show up, production would start a few weeks later. I need to finish the tooling, but the designs are done. I will post up on the website the 2 prototype tanks ONLY AFTER we have ridden with it a good bit and are satisfied with it.

All B & B CycleRestoration parts are proved out on our bikes beforehand. I will be shooting to have it in fairly rough country testing soon after fabrication is finished.

Two questions, what year bike is this for? And what is your website?

Thanks Tom

That is a link to Bill's website. It's pretty simple and straightforward.

The new tank will fit '06 and '07. There wasn't an '08, so anything before the new '09 model.
We are searching for an '09 to base more work on. We may have to just buy one, but we'd rather put the money into new development and expand our support.

On a personal note, Bill and I are switching to 15 tooth countershaft sprockets. The 351 revs so fast, I can't shift fast enough to keep up. There is no doubt the 351 will pull it. Even with the'07's "tall 6th" gearbox I can't count how many times I've reached for 7th so far...

Dude... Tell me about it!! I started with the 13 that was on it with the 250. The next day put the stock 14, and ordered a 15 already. I'm going to see how that is and if I have to do more I'll drop the rear a couple. I find myself constantly in limbo between 2nd and 3rd now on the trails. It does just rev so fast, and I'm guessing the redline should be lower than stock, no? All I know is all the grunt is down low. I love it. It's like a tractor on steroids and crack.
