Default 351 and pumper, 1000km (625 miles) later

Well, after 1000km, and some tweeking, I've got to say, this is THE setup to have.

Of the 1000km, probably 850 are off-road, from single track to quarries... The other 150 are getting to and from trails..

I had an issue with overheating for a while, where the header would glow red (yes, I know this is considered normal), but I didn't like it...

And I had some nasty gun shot loud backfires on decel.... Again, pissed me off...

I enrichened (richened, made it richer, whatever) the carb, by raising the needle one notch, and did the same with the idle circuit with the screw... And by using Motocool.

These solved the problems... The bike runs great now..

The "snap" this bike has now is insane... I let my brother drive it today (he drives a crf250) and it blew him away.. He wants a 351 now...

I can power wheelie in 1-2-3rd... Talk about a wild smile all the time!

The bike still sounds like a sewing machine when cold, but is smooth as butter when warm..

Next up is the suspension... My fat *** needs a little more spring lol

A little Loud for my liking, sounds a bit like a motocross, but it's the price to pay I guess...

Im going the opposite way with suspension first then exhaust/intake, and then 351. The suspension alone makes a world of difference

It was a toss up for me... Decided to do 351 first over the winter, as it was the more involved and difficult (and my first time doing it).

I'm actually looking at suspension set ups as I write this lol.

I went with race tech 5.0 front springs and 6.4 rear springs with 1.5ich of preload. Its way less than stock but the ride is 10x better

I'm think to go with a little heavier springs. I'm about 270, and RT says and 8.2 rear spring, but they don't make anywhere close to it... I'd hate to buy a 6.4 and not notice a differencr

I got mine last fall, so the exchange was a little different, but here's what I spent...

1) BB351 kit. 550.00US
2) TM 36-68 225.00 US
3) New jets 40.00 US
4) 2 bros pipe, Used 135.00 US

So 950.00 US, and I did the install myself... You can probably tack on another 400$ cdn for install if you can't do it yourself..

It's WELL worth the money, but it is a fair investment... But it's a different bike afterwards..

What part of SW are you?

I can verify the 351 with the TM36-68 carb completely changes the bike. The torque is the most significant change. Lifting the front wheel with throttle only in first and second is effortless. Ive had no issues with overheating. I does take some effort to tune the carb but once its dialed it, wow. I think the recommended carb setting are a little lean and also had to richen it up to stop the decel popping. Best bang for the buck.
