2014 shift pedal

A shift lever for an XR650L of quite a few years to present is a good choice. I used an MSR brand which is made of a good maleable steel. It's strong but not so strong that it will bend your shift shaft in an impact. You don't want these to be too stiff. It's a hair longer than the short stocker. You may have to tap on it a bit to clear the gen case, but it's pretty much a direct fit.

Same here-a bit of fine 'tuning' on the bench vise to adjust the bend and it's perfect.

I looked at their site. What material are they made of?...couldn't find a description. I'm guessing aluminum. If it's made out of stiff, billet material, I hope it breaks in a severe impact before toasting your shift shaft or worse. The KLX isn't designed as well to take hits on the shifter from either trail obstacles or from "digging in" during a left side slide. The KLX is low slung and the bigger stator/rotor design usually necessary on street legal dual sports almost always require the shifter to stick out further from the tranny. Billet shift levers on true competition bikes aren't usually as "exposed" due to higher ground clearance as well as a slimmer engine design and how the engine fits in the chassis. Now, none of this is the end of the world, but I'll take a shifter lever that tends to bend more than transmit most of the impact energy into the shifter shaft...at least on a design like the KLX.

I have one aswell and I am very pleased with it. Have had it for about a year now and haven't touched it since. Thats good im my book because the stock one I would have to bend straight again after every spill . Got it for like 25 bucks off ebay. Looks, fits, and works good.
