2009 KLX 250S For Sale - Detroit, MI Area
Hello, fellow KLXers!
I have a 2009 KLX250S with 23,500 miles on it that I am looking to sell. This bike has only been ridden on the roads as a daily commuter--never on the trails or dirt roads. Everything is stock except new grips and grip heaters. This bike has been garaged and has never been dropped or crashed. I have maintained it myself, and it has a fresh oil change and fresh brake fluid. I am the original owner and also have the owner's guide.
There is a good amount of wear on the rings, seals, and valves because of the high mileage. The compression reading is in the 70s, which is getting a bit low, so sometimes the bike is stubborn to start and runs slightly rough when the throttle is closed. However, I have not had an issue at all commuting to and from work--it always starts and has never quit until I hit the kill switch or turn the key to off.
This would be a great project bike, especially if you are looking to do some engine upgrades anyways (bigger bore, etc.).
I have attached two pictures of the bike, which show that everything is in great condition. I have the stock tools and toolbag that I will also provide with the bike.
I am looking to sell the entire bike--not part it out, and am asking $1,000--which is well below the book price. I am offering a low price because I know it will need engine service in the near future.
I am in the Detroit area. If you are interested in the bike or have questions, please respond to this post and I will get in touch with you.

I forgot to mention that the tires were replaced at 12,000 miles--the ones on there now are 80/20 street tires made by Shinko. They have plenty of tread left and actually ride really nice!

That bike looks minty. It's a steal for 1000 bucks even with the work needed on the top end.
Put a big bore in there and it's good as new I bet!
I'd say this should go in the classifieds section but the klxs250 page is pretty much the only active one on the whole forum. Good luck with the sale!

That is a good deal, and that's not a lot of mileage for a KLX. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the valves bleeding compression. If the importation wasn't a hassle, I'd pop over the border ans grab it.

Cool, Looks like Fred got the bike? Nice to keep it in the family. Good luck with the bike, more of a steal than a deal....lol And Stirfry, best of luck to you with whatever you get if anything. Hate to see anyone go.

Thanks, Werloc. I listed it simultaneously on Cycle Trader and it got a lot of attention. One buyer beat Fred to it by a few hours. But he is going to fix it up over the winter and give it to his son so they can go riding together in the Spring. So I am very happy!
