2009 KLX 250s no start
Ok I need help, about to give up.
09 Klx250s carbureted. Worked fine when put away in fall, now no start only intermittent exhaust backfire. Have spark, fuel, even tried starting fluid, no luck. Any suggestions?

I would put some fresh gas in it and try push starting it. For a couple months after I bought mine it would crank and crank and crank, but wouldn't fire off. Had spark, fresh fuel, lights and gauges all worked fine and didn't even dim too much when the starter was engaged. Battery didn't have enough power to spin the engine and fire off the engine for some reason.
I would crank it over for a little bit to get fuel to the engine, then push it through the yard and jump on it as I let the clutch out and went full throttle. I always used first gear, but I guess people recommend using second.

Jetting helps tremendously. One other thing, disable the compression release. Either take off the spring which will leave them free or if you know what you're doing you can wire them disengaged (all the way out) as I did, with some .090" wire. There is no need for the compression release with an electric start. All you are doing is blowing fuel charge out the open exhaust valve. Neither Yamaha nor Honda put one on their electric start 250s. Mine will spin and start in 8 degree weather.
