2003 klx 300 updated idler gear fit a 1997 klx300?
This is my first post here so greetings from Newfoundland Canada. Recently picked up a 1997 klx 300 with all the classic design flaws.
My question is does a 2003 klx 300 updated idler gear fit a 1997 klx300?Anybody know what they changed with the 2003 idler gear ? I have a broken gear (no other damage luckily) and I don't want to put a similar defective part back on.
On a side note, I am in contact with Brewster (great guy to deal with btw) arranging to get the acr mod done to alleviate the stress on the gear and the shin splints in my leg lol. I opened my bike up to remove the exhaust cam to find no acr unit. What a pleasant surprise. Looks to me like it was cut off but I could be wrong. So i am looking for a cam with a acr now also.

Hello Yzman81,
Did you ever figure out if the 2003 and later idler gears fit the earlier bikes? I am in desperate need of a new gear, but am in the same position. It would be near pointless to place the same problem back onto the bike, not to mention with a newly cracked case -_-
