Here's some numbers if it is useful.
2007 rear shock distance between mounting holes = 16.75"
2009 shock = 16.25"
red spring from 2009 shock = 9.25"
black spring from 2007 = 10"
Swapping the 2007 for the 2009 shock lowered the seat height about .75"
I had kouba links on, the klx3 model but with the sag set and compression set where I liked it, I bottomed the rear tire into the fender way to often. With the shock switch and the original 117 links it doesn't hit the fender.

Thanks for the info.

Still looking, haven't had any luck finding either a 250 or 300 pre 09 parts bike and people on ebay want stupid money for a set of forks

Are you maybe interested in a complete Stroker (Larry Roessler) front and rear suspension from a KLX300? I've got a setup I bought used not long after I got my '09 KLX, but I've decided I'm not likely ever going to use it.

It's got a modified swingarm, CNC'd linkage, 43mm KX125/250 forks, and a KX500/KLX300 hybrid shock, KX500 triple clamps. I think it added around an inch or more of travel over KLX300 specs, and fully adjustable. It might make the bike a lot taller than you want though.
To complete the install, it would need a KX wheel, or fabricated axle/spacers to use KLX wheel. And the whole lot would need to be serviced, as it's history is unknown to me.

Hey Lutz, what happened to the stroker motor?
That's what I'm really after...

Yeah, I'm going to have to go the other way. I have an '06 and will need to replace the upper fork tubes. Not sure what years will work without having to swap out the clamp and all that.

So an update.
I'm buying. Lutz' parts, but won't have time to go through them, and install them for this season, so I bought a KLX300 parts bike last week, and going to start swapping the suspension over in a few weeks. For next season I'll install the stroker stuff, and 300 cylinder over winter.

It looks like they are the same, 97 (or probably earlier) to present.

I tore the 300 down, took a bunch of measurements today, and have some interesting info. Will post later tonight when I'm done in the shop.
