06/07 suspension on an 09+ bike
Anybody done this, or at least measured any of the parts? Forks will be straightforward, but I wonder if just the shock is required, or shock and linkage, or the whole thing, including swingarm?
My short legs prefer the later bike, but I've had a few ground clearance problems in the woods, and would prefer a little more travel for what I'm doing.
Currently looking for a KLX300 parts bike to do the swap. If anybody has knowledge of this, please let me know

Not too many on kijiji.... Is that your ad looking for a parts bike? Lol, no, I wasn't looking for one, was surfing "KLX"

I'm vertically challenged as well. I swapped out the stock rear shock for a unit from a 2009. Lowered the rear by about an inch. I didn't like how the lowering links worked with the stock shock. Bottomed out too often with the correct sag and damping settings.
It was a simple bolt in type swap.

ZW, I'll be looking forward to see how this works out if you get to. I've done a lot to my '06 suspension, but I have no knowledge how the different generation models can swap suspension components. Good luck.

Is the rear shock different, other than being easier to rebuild, and/or is the linkage different?
And what's the difference up front?
I ask because I've beat the crap out of my Scorpion skid plate. I've hit rocks so hard it rang the skid plate like a bell and made those in front of me stop to see if I had cased my motor. Another inch of travel would be useful to me, even if I have to go back to having just my toes down after a proper suspension set up.
