Good morning, I have a Prarie 650 that has been smoking a little bit for a couple of months. Blue smoke which is barely detectable. Most of the time no smoke at all. Recently, one of the ranch hands was running it down the county road and it blew a whole lot of smoke out. Enough to cloud my vision. Smoked badly blue and white smoke. Though I smelled antifreeze but am not sure now. I ran it yesterday to check it out and it smoked quite a bit when I started it up (blue) and gradually cleared some what. After 20 minutes of user it was still smoking and running a little rough unless I choked it some. The water level and oil levels are good.
Any ideas what could be wrong and how I can go about checking this out?

 

You could start with a compression test and most likely it will show low compression. From there, head gasket or rings or other issue will require a tear down.
