Default rear drive shaft leak

Just noticed my rear drive shaft is leaking fluid. When I pulled on the drive shaft it came part of the way out of the housing and of course leaked much more oil. What part has failed, what holds the drive shaft in the housing?

It is a 2007 Kawasaki Mule 3010 4X4.

Thanks for your help

Hi,
On the 3010 mule ,, ( gas or Diesel ,, All the Same Internal Drive-line Parts )...
the Rear In - Board half-Shafts ARE held in place with a Snap Ring .
There is a Spacer between the inside bearing race , and the snap ring .
The bearing itself is held in the housing / mount with a large snap ring .
NOW , On the LEFT Side ( driver side ) Of the Tranny/ Rear Diff . there is a gear that sides on the Shaft ,,, This is the Rear Diff Lock .
Why, did it break ,, problem is the " spline/ sliding inside the rubber boot .
It gets Rusted Up,,
Things to check ,, 1 ,, Out Board axle Bearings ,, 2 ,, Make SURE the Half-
Shaft U-joint Yokes are In-line (( Mark The Shafts At The Splined Ends With White Paint ,, It will make Easier to line up the shafts )) !!!! ,,3,, Clean splines / Slip Joint ,,4 ,, Rubber Boots ,, 5 ,, Use Waterproof/ Marine Grease .....

Hope This Helps ,
Later ,
Mark K.

Is there a trick to remove the left side drivers side inner shaft on my 3010 Mule. If I remove the bolts on the flange witll the shaft come out?
