4010 Diesel winch mount - front or rear?
Got a 2012 model year 4010 Diesel a few months ago. Am planning to add an inexpensive (5000# Badland from Harbor Freight) winch to it. My question to other forum members: what are some of the downsides to making it a rear mount (using the OEM 1.1/4" hitch receiver and a hitch receiver winch mount) vs. 'normal' front winch mount? Planned winch use is for the normal stuff - getting un-stuck, pulling small trees, etc.
I like the idea of being able to easily install or remove the winch/hitch receiver mount whenever I want (just make up/undo the solenoid leads as needed). The winch wiring appears long enough to be able to do a rear mount without any issues. And I can get a very inexpensive hitch receiver winch mount. But this would put the winch lower to the ground when used.
I already have a 1.1/4" x 2" hitch receiver adapter I use for other towables.
Thoughts?
