Default 08 3010 trans diesel starting issues and smoking.

Hello everyone,

The above mentioned mule is hard to start after it sets and when it does start, it misses and blows blue smoke for about 30 seconds and then idles correctly and stops blowing smoke. I am thinking a head issue possibly valve seals, but not sure. Any input would be greatly appreciated. It just turned 1900 hours.

like most diesel engines the combustion chamber needs to be preheated before cold starts this is where the glow plugs come into play I would check the preheat (glow plug) circuit first before you tear into the head or valve train

Hi ,
+ 1 on checking the glow plugs ,
Also if this mule sets a long time between runs , Take your fuel filter Off , Look
inside / pour into a clean Drain pan ,, If It Is Nasty Green Algae Fungus , Then need to Flush the fuel System ... ( Low Sulfur fuels have a lot of water,, make things GROW!!! )
Last If the Glow Plugs are Ok ? might have a Leaking Injector ,
