1992 kawasaki jetski questions help
Hi all, I am new to this site, but it looks like the place to be to ask kawasaki jetski questions, i just picked up a used kawasaki 750 1992 jetski,
1. i know that a two cycle engin takes gas in the oil, however on this jetski, i have an oil tank in the rear, and a gas tank in the front, i assume it mixes it self, here is my question, there is what looks like a oil fill plastic screw thing in the front of the engin, what is that for, and is that it, just make sure there is 2 cycle oil in the back tank and gas in the front tank, and that is all the fluid it needs, no mixing any oil with the gas first?
Also, i read some thng about this not having a closed exaust system and i found out the hard way, connected the hose, turned the hose on, without the engin running and it got hose water into the engin, i cleaned it and and started it, but the exaust syster is not closed, weird for me comming from a motorcycle, car engin world.

Ok, I had a '98 750 sxi pro stand up. First things first dump that oil injection crap and just mix the 2 stroke oil with the gas and pour it directly into the fuel tank! Mine came stock without oil injection but I have a few friends that ditched the injection system because when that oil injection system goes out it will screw up your motor without any warning! One of these friends owns a motorcycle shop and is a mechanic. Get yourself a Ratio Rite and ask your dealer what the proper mix ratio is for your ski. Mine was 50 to 1 but yours may be different. Oh and dont buy cheap 2 stroke oil! If they sell it at places like Home Depo or Lowes its not meant for jet skis!
Also you have to remember it is a two stroke engine, it has no valves that close, so if you turn the water on before the motor is running it will fill the cylinder or bottom end. Always start it, then turn the water on when testing then when done shut off the water then the engine after a couple of revs to flush the water out, just dont rev it too high or too much without it being in the water or (i.e. Lake/River) under load. Its a good idea not to run it longer than a minute or so out of the water too.
Good luck and keep us posted!
