81 Kawasaki KZ250L csr
Im rebuilding an 81 KZ250L csr. Im putting on a new rear tire. Do they balance these tires? I've never done bike tire myself so I don't know. I figured you just need to make sure arrow on tire is pointing forward at top and that tire needs to be centered with just enough tension on belt to keep it from slipping. Do I need to know anything else. Already put new tire on front.

Tire Balancing
TY. I did find a video on u-tube on how to do it using center bolt and two car jackstands. I ordered weights from ebay and tires I have on are now balanced and arrows are going right direction.

So you think thats funny.
Why do you feel its funny to balance motorcycle tires??? Do you also think its funny that they suggest yu match the dot on tire to where valve stem goes. Im from old days and we balanced motorcycle tires back in old days same as you do with car tires. It doesn't change ride that much but it does help with wear on tire. Is there anybody that feels Im right or do you all think I'm blowing smoke. Lets see how many are for or against??

The reason I laugh is that as rough as the ride already is it really doesn't make a difference, and as far as wear, when you run knobbies I highly doubt you can tell a difference in a tire balanced and one that is not. It's just not something I have done on any bike except the St 1300 and that's because I ride a lot faster on that bike and I want a smooth ride. And finally unless you ride 30 miles a day on the freeway with this bike, in my opinion its a waste. The gravel and trails don't care if your tires are balanced. I meant no disrespect, its just the way I do things. Oh and if I didn't say it already, welcome to the forums.

I just realized that your bike is probably not a dirt bike or dual sport. How did I miss that? If its a street bike then yes balance the tires. Sorry. BONK! DEEJ stikes again. Not reading only skimming. hahaha self deducting points to myself. lol

Street Bike
Yes, it is strictly a street bike and no problem. When I went to sun motorsports for some of my parts here in Denver I had asked their technichian about the proper way of changing out the tires and he was one that told me about balancing them, make sure dot on tire is by valve stem and the correct direction for drive arrow. All the bikes I have ever had have been street bikes and tires were always balanced. I didn't know if tires these days still needed balanced and that's why I asked. Ty and I wish you and all the other members a very happy Thanksgiving. By the way, I did find out my bike was considered a 1982 but was built in sept of 81. Later
