performance parts?
I am new to the forum and I have started getting bored with the power of my bike, I think its time to upgrade.
I have a 1999 kawasaki vulcan classic, and I want to start upgrading it. I am looking into changing the cams but have been unable to find anything for my application. Does anyone else have cams in a similar bike? I have contacted crower camshaft and thay can regrind my stock cams, but that is a custom job which is relativly expensive. Also what other type of modifications do people normaly perform, I already have exhaust.

RE: performance parts?
Have you tried the basic pipes/jets/etc?Need more?
If you want to go large, ever considered a bore job? Cams may give you a bit more spunk, but likely won't give you what you want without additional flow, which a tick more displacement will give you.
I had an old 900F Honda that had a bore job and Andrews cams. It pulled great (although the old F's ran pretty hot, temperature-wise). I think the cams by themselves probably wouldn't have had as much impact, which I suspect may hold true for your Vulcan as well. They'll make your bike sound good, but they won't give you the kick you're after.

I already have exhaust, rejetted carb, and a k&n air filter. I was also going to get the head ported to go with the cams, but I had not considered a big bore yet. Thank you for the replies.

RE: performance parts?
Depends on how much you want to spend, really. Cams will give you the "lope" and the port job will improve your existing flow, but I think you'd get a silly grin with a bore job, too. Trust me, you'll notice the difference.
