hesitation problems
I have a 2003 Vulcan 800 classic. I love it. the bike hesitates every time i go to give it gas. I have had the carb cleaned and overhauled. i have tried different grades of gas. it is fine when the choke is out. but as soon as the bike warms up and the choke goes it it starts to hesitate again. I have no idea what to do. its fine shifting from 3 to 4 to 5th gear but 1st and second it always hesitates.
Can anyone help me with this?

RE: hesitation problems
Sounds like a possible linkage problem to me, but I may be wrong. When you're in the higher gears, you likely don't NOTICE the hesitation, but it's still there. Make sure there's no slop in the linkagefrom the carbs to the bar. NONE.
Double check the return springs and all the pivot points; give a shot of lube, as well as the cable run. I like a nice stiff return on my throttle; no gradual winding-down in the rpms. If necessary, change the spring(s) on the carb linkage to give you a nice "direct" feel.
